All about Iceland

Things to do

Iceland is one of the most magical places on Earth. Whether you go in the winter to see the Northern lights, bathe in the world-renowned hot springs, or simply want to enjoy delicious food and friendly people, you can’t go wrong with Iceland. Here are some of our favorite activities to make your trip extra special!

Take in the Northern Lights

There is a reason why people travel from all over the world to catch a glimpse of this beautiful phenomenon! It is truly spectacular, and its beauty will stay with you forever. While January and February is the prime time to see this natural dancing light show, if you visit anytime between October and March, luck is on your side! And, there are plenty of ways to enjoy them! Here are our picks:

  • By Bus: An intimate small-group tour with a knowledgeable guide and an added bonus: Hot Chocolate!

  • By Luxury Yacht: Nothing beats the unobstructed view of the lights from the comfort of a luxury yacht under the stars! With plenty of indoor/outdoor seating, snacks, and an onboard bar, this is an epic addition to your Icelandic adventure!

Visit the Majestic Blue Lagoon

One of the most popular (with good reason) attractions in Iceland, The Blue Lagoon is an unforgettable experience everyone should have at least once in their lives. With the gorgeous sprawling views, mineral-filled warm waters, and a swim up bar to enjoy a cocktail while you revel in the magic, The Blue Lagoon should be at the top of your to-do list!

Luckily, Reykjavik Excursions makes it easy for you to include a Blue Lagoon visit with flexible options and great combo deals. Here are our favorites:

  • FlyBus Combo: You can combine your airport transportation bus with a Blue Lagoon stop on your way to or from the airport! Includes luggage storage and drop off.

  • Golden Circle Tour with Add on: If you want a full day of fun, this option includes Waterfalls, Geysers, and a 3 hour visit to the Blue Lagoon

Party like an Icelander

If you are a music lover, experiencing Iceland in November is a no-brainer!

The Airwaves Music Festival is the biggest event in Iceland and is a weekend of dancing, culture, and non-stop celebration! The festival plays host to bands from all over the world, and genres range from metal to soul and everything in between—There is guaranteed to be something for even the pickiest taste!

Eat Like a Local

Iceland is a great place to try new foods and experience unique cuisine (think Fresh Atlantic Cod and Melt in your mouth Lamb)—And make sure not to leave Iceland without trying their famous Pilsur! Here are some of our other favorite spots:

Experience a one-of-a-kind bar

The Big Lebowski is a classic, and while The Lebowski Bar is a must-visit for any fan, it is also a great place to hang if you like themed bars, White Russians (there are 25+ versions!), bowling, and a lively crowd! Don’t forget to hit up the happy hour which runs 2 hours longer than most other bars in the area!
